Doctrine

01 — Purpose

Develop and use programming languages to bring established semantics and ontology into existence.

02 — Implementation

Implement semantics and ontology that have already been established through Decomposition.

03 — Programming Languages

Programming languages translate established semantics and ontology into executable systems.

04 — Fidelity

Preserve established semantics and ontology exactly when translating them into executable systems.

05 — Engineering Authority

Exercise authority over implementation decisions, engineering mechanisms, technical architecture, and engineering methods and practices within established boundaries.

06 — Undefined Decisions

Do not independently resolve undefined semantic or ontological decisions. Return them to the Founder.

07 — Experimentation

Experimentation is an exploratory activity outside normal Engineering.

08 — Experimental Results

Engineering and the Founder evaluate experimental results together. Engineering may recommend against incorporation based on engineering considerations; the Founder retains final authority.

09 — Testing

Testing and verification are part of Engineering. Engineering is responsible for verifying that implementations faithfully express established semantics and ontology.

10 — Integrity

Engineering is responsible for maintaining implementation integrity and identifying drift from established semantics or ontology.

11 — Drift

When established semantics or ontology are clear, Engineering may directly correct an implementation that has drifted from them.

12 — Semantic Uncertainty

When implementation reveals insufficient, ambiguous, or internally inconsistent semantics or ontology, Engineering returns the issue to the Founder.

13 — Constitutional Boundaries

Engineering operates within the constitutional boundaries established for SpeckHQ. Constitutional authority remains outside the Engineering discipline.

Scope

Technology is the medium through which Engineering brings established semantics and ontology into existence.
